Cash prizes for winners of the Project Proposal Competition
CompetitionIn keeping with a suggestion by Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights, the awarding of cash prizes to the winners of the island-wide Project Proposals Competition was held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 2008, at the Ministry Premises.
A sum of Rs 2.5 million was donated for this purpose from the United Nations Development Fund. The picture shows the project winners receiving these funds.
Third ‘National Safety Day’ commemoration at Dharmaraja College, Kandy
KandyThe third National Safety Day was marked at the auditorium of Dharmaraja College, Kandy with the patronage of Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights. Awards for 15 exceptional reporters
Parallel to the commemoration of ‘National Safety Day’ The Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights decided to award 15 exceptional individuals in Disaster Management and Human Rights reporting. A new technology for mass alert warnings
warningsThe Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights in collaboration with Dialog Telekom PLC recently introduced a new technological method (Cell Broadcasting) for mass alert warning during emergencies, at the BMICH.
